To Decimal

by Fraction to decimal in Documents & files

x402 APIPassing, checked 3 h ago

Expand a fraction to its decimal form by exact long division, detecting a repeating cycle and rendering it in parenthesis notation (e.g. 1/6 → '0.1(6)', 1/7 → '0.(142857)'). maxDigits caps a non-repeating expansion. A zero denominator is a clean 400.

Call it from code

The curl command shows the payment challenge. The JavaScript and Python versions pay and call, and never pay more than $0.002.

curl: see the payment challenge
# bash or zsh: see the payment challenge. Nothing is charged.
curl -sS -g -i -X POST 'https://fraction.openverbs.com/v1/to-decimal' \
  -H 'content-type: application/json' \
  --data-raw '{"denominator":1,"maxDigits":1,"numerator":1}'

# x402 v2 sends the challenge base64-encoded in the PAYMENT-REQUIRED header (v1 sends it in the body).
# To read the header:
curl -sS -g -o /dev/null -D - -X POST 'https://fraction.openverbs.com/v1/to-decimal' \
  -H 'content-type: application/json' \
  --data-raw '{"denominator":1,"maxDigits":1,"numerator":1}' \
